Today Is A Great Day for Alzheimer’s Research!
September 8, 2017
Wednesday, September 6th was truly a remarkable day for anyone who has or knows someone who is battling Alzheimer’s! The Senate Appropriations Labor-HHS* Subcommittee proposed a $414 million increase for Alzheimer’s research for the 2018 fiscal year! The fight to end Alzheimer’s is their goal as the numbers of those who have the disease continue to increase year after year. Out of all of the diseases our country faces, Alzheimer’s is the “only leading cause of death in the U.S. that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed!
According to Wednesday’s press release, “an estimated cost of $259 billion annually including $175 billion in Medicare and Medicaid payments – Alzheimer’s is the most expensive disease in the country.”
Here at Heather Glen Senior Living, we are grounded on a Philosophy of Wellness. We emphasize the Physical, Spiritual, Emotional, Social, Intellectual, and Environmental aspects of Wellness. Each resident with Alzheimer’s, or any other form of dementia, are therapeutically assessed to determine their ability and capability. An individualized support plan will be developed including the collaborative input of the resident, family, caregivers, and support staff. Making the decision to reside at Heather Glen will offer the peace of mind that the resident will not only be cared for but cared about.
As the numbers of people who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s continue to skyrocket, now more than ever, we must all join forces to find a treatment!
