Welcoming Jennifer Woolley—A Passionate Leader in Memory Care at Heather Glen
April 21, 2025
At Heather Glen Senior Living, we believe in the power of connection, compassion and personalized care—especially when it comes to supporting those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s. We make it our mission to ensure that each of our team members reflects our values, which is why we’re so excited to welcome Jennifer Woolley as our new Memory Care Director. With over 15 years of experience and a deep-rooted passion for helping others, Jennifer brings a remarkable blend of expertise and heart to our community.
“I am a firm believer that experiences shape who we are,” Jennifer says. “These experiences have led me to the role of providing older adults, especially people with dementia, with quality care and meaningful connections. It is such a privilege to be given the opportunity to make a direct difference in the lives of others, offering moments of clarity and joy as they live with the challenges of the condition. I enjoy what I do.”
Leading with compassion and experience
Jennifer’s dedication to memory care goes beyond clinical knowledge—it’s about building trust, creating meaningful experiences and empowering residents to live with dignity and joy. She was drawn to Heather Glen by our “reputation for excellence in care, compassion towards the residents, and attention to the Memory Care Neighborhood.” As Memory Care Director, she’s eager to put her experience to work to enhance and enrich the lives of our residents.
“My role is a liaison between the residents, families and care team,” she explains. “We work together towards the same goal—to ensure that the residents receive the best care possible with respect.”
Jennifer is often found roaming around on the floor, actively engaging with residents, families and team members. This hands-on approach ensures that everyone’s needs are being met and that the high standards of Heather Glen’s care are consistently upheld.
What makes our memory care program unique
At Heather Glen, memory care is more than a service—it’s a commitment to nurturing the whole person. Jennifer describes our Memory Care Neighborhood as a space filled with “comfort, support and a welcoming atmosphere with a sense of energy and vitality.”
Our environment is carefully crafted to be familiar, engaging and secure. From life story-based programming to memory prompts and consistent daily routines, everything is designed with intention. “With a compassionate care team and programming tailored around residents’ life stories,” Jennifer says, “this environment allows the residents to continue to live with dignity.”
Supporting families through the journey
We understand that the decision to move a loved one into memory care can be overwhelming. Jennifer encourages families to be proactive and intentional: “Research and visit various communities and ask questions. The sooner, the better, so that you can take the time needed to make this important decision. Have open and honest conversations with family members about the care plan. Try to involve your loved one as much as possible so that they can express their preferences. Focus on a person-centered approach ensuring that your loved one’s needs and preferences are met—and evaluate your own health because caring for a loved one 24/7 can be emotionally and physically demanding. Finding the right place will give you the peace of mind that your loved one will be taken care of with the utmost respect, which will improve your own well-being as well, so that you can enjoy the time visiting your loved one and be present in the moment.”
At Heather Glen, we guide families every step of the way. “Transitioning into memory care is a multi-step process prioritizing your loved one’s comfort and well-being,” Jennifer explains. We personalize care plans based on life stories, prepare rooms with meaningful items and maintain open communication with families to ensure a smooth and supported transition.
A mission to celebrate abilities, not limitations
The heart of Jennifer’s approach—and the Heather Glen philosophy—is shifting the narrative around dementia. “My purpose is to shift the stigma of dementia from what people can’t do to what they can do and celebrate those moments,” she shares. “By providing compassionate care, fostering a supportive environment and focusing on the person’s abilities, it maintains a sense of purpose, dignity and quality of life everyone deserves.”
